New Technology Connects NICU Babies to Families

During a celebration Wednesday that marked the 20th anniversary of the neonatal intensive care unit at Freeman Hospital West, partners of that unit unveiled a new piece of technology that will help to allay the fears of families and parents during a newborn’s stay in the unit.

Called Angel Eye, it’s a secure, Web-based camera system that will allow parents and up to 20 loved ones to remotely see the baby via a live feed. A camera, mounted to the baby’s bed, will provide 24-hour access and help ease the separation if parents must return to work or leave the hospital for any length of time.
